Hello everyone, welcome back to my blog. So today we are going to talk about caption, so wihout amy further do, let's talk about it
The definition of caption text is a short text located near photos, illustration or diagram that gives important information about the photos, illustration or diagram. The purpose of caption text is to help reader understand information that may not be in the text.
Every photo has a caption. Every caption has 3 parts. The first sentence describe who, what, when and where for the subject. The second sentence details the massage or why behind the photo and all caption need credit and realease line.
First sentence began with "who" who identify for subject. And you fully identifying people by branch services, rank, first and lesson in, military unit, job title. If your subject fully identifying things. You include the service, name, type, unit. After who you will explain "what" what your subject doing with short description and you must place a coma after what and add the date when you took the photo. Then "where" following the date, you add another coma and write the location where you took the photo.
Generic structure of caption text are :
- Prepositional phrase
- Infinitive phrase
- Participial phrase
- Adjective phrase
- Question
- exclamation
- Photos/diagram/illustration
- Caption (description or information about the photos)
- Photo credit ( “photo by ..”)
LANGUAGE FEATURES
1. Prepositional phrases is a series of word made up of a preposition and its object.
- The boy with him is his son.
(with is the preposition, and with him s the prepositional phrase. The prepositional phrase functions as an adjective phrase, modifying boy)
- It annoys me when people talk during movies.
(during is the preposition, and during movies is the prepositional phrase. The prepositional phrase function as an adverb phrase modifying talk)
2. Infinitive phrases is the infinitive form of a verb plus any complements (direct object) and modifiers (adverb)
- To dance is thrilling for me.
(to dance is the invinitive. It function as a noun in the sentence, acting as a subject)
- cory wants to sing.
(to sing is the invinitive. It function as a noun in the sentence, acting as a direct object)
3. Participial phrases Is dressed up like verbs, but they function as adjective to describe nouns.
- Sweeping across the night sky, the bats hunted their prey.
(sweeping is the present participle, and sweeping across the night sky is the participial phrase. The participial phrase modifies bats)
- The broken window needed to get repaired quickly.
(broken is the past participle. It modifies window)
4. Adjective phrases Is a group of words that describe a noun or pronoun in a sentence.
- The movie was not too terribly long.
- A person smarter than me needs to figure this out.
5. Questions Is a type of sentence that requires an answer.
- Who will be the governor of Jakarta?
- Who will protect endangered species?
6. Exclamation
- What exceptional children these are! → correct
How exceptional children there are! → incorrect
- Fantastic, we closed the deal! → correct
Fantastic! We closed the deal. → incorrect

1. What is the text about?
Pertanyaan ini biasanya untuk menanyakan topik dari suatu teks. Topik selalu ada
pada kalimat utama, yang biasa terletak di kalimat awal. Maka kita akan kita bisa
jawab The text is about a trial run of the first phase of the Jakarta MRT.
2. Who are in the picture?
Pertanyaan dimulai dengan kata “who” maka jawaban tentu terkait orang. Kita
lihat gambar di sana ada banyak orang lalu kita baca teks. Di kalimat awal ada kata
“Jakartans” ini adalah kata untuk mengatakan orang Jakarta. Sehingan bisa
dijawab untuk pertanyaan kedua adalah Jakartans are in the picture.
3. What do they do based on the picture?
Pertanyaan dimulai dengan kata “what” dan menggunakan kata kerja “do” maka
jawabannya merupakan aktivitas dalam gambar, kita bisa temukan juga pada
kalimat pertama karena “they” merupakan kata ganti “Jakartans”. Jadi jawaban
untuk pertanyaan no 3 ini adalah They enjoy a trial run of the first phase of the
Jakarta MRT.
4. Where did the picture publish?
Pertanyaan dimulai dengan “where” maka jawabannya terkait tempat
dipublikasikan atau medianya. Kita bisa lihat diakhir caption ada nama media dan
penulis. Jawabannya adalah The picture is publish on The Jakarta Post.
5. Why did the writer write the text?
Pertanyan dimulai dengan kata “why” jawaban yang diinginkan adalah alasan
menuliskan teks. Maka kita bisa menjawab untuk mendeskripsikan gambar orang
naik MRT. The writer wrote the text because he wanted to describe a picture of
Jakartans enjoy a trial run of MRT.

Ministry Sehingan bisa dijawab untuk pertanyaan kedua adalah Ministry of Rural
and Ministry of Sports
3. What do they do based on the picture?
Pertanyaan dimulai dengan kata “what” dan menggunakan kata kerja “do” maka
jawabannya merupakan aktivitas dalam gambar, this event is attended by. Jadi
jawaban untuk pertanyaan no 3 ini adalah They attended SMA 70 anniversary.
4. Where did the picture publish?
Pertanyaan dimulai dengan “where” maka jawabannya terkait tempat
dipublikasikan atau medianya. Kita bisa lihat diakhir caption ada nama media dan
penulis. Jawabannya adalah The picture is publish on SMAN 70 news.
5. Why did the writer write the text?
Pertanyan dimulai dengan kata “why” jawaban yang diinginkan adalah alasan
menuliskan teks. The writer wrote the text because the students of SMAN 70
look so enthusiastic to meet the ministries.
